Ears the News with Richard

A series of uniform commercial code financing statement forms filed with Orange County would indicate a number of new retailers will be coming to Disney Springs. Among those would be, Oakley, L'Occitane (perfume), Alpargatas USA (footwear), Kinectescape Steam & Power (odd knickknacks), Edward Beiner  Spring (eyewear), Erwin Pearl Retail (jelwery), Chapel Headwear, Erin McKenna's Bakery Valentine(Owner of Babycakes), and Great Irish Pubs Florida (owner of Ragland Rd).

None of these retailers have been officially confirmed, but we should expect to hear conformation from Disney in the not so distant future.

Disney has however confirmed that STK Orlando will be opening in Disney Springs in 2015.

The new STK will be located within the waterfront setting of The Landing at Disney Springs, a completely re-imagined shopping, dining and entertainment complex that will double the number of shops and restaurants currently found at Downtown Disney. The Landing is the first phase of Disney Springs and will be home to unique and memorable dining experiences such as STK, Morimoto Asia and The BOATHOUSE, plus a number of still-to-be-announced innovative restaurants and boutique shops.
STK’s unique ambiance blends the elements of a modern steakhouse with a sleek lounge, including a DJ, emphasizing a social, fun environment. At approximately 14,000 square feet, the Orlando outpost will be one of the largest STK locations. STK Orlando will have two dining floors—including a main level and the only rooftop dining venue in Disney Springs.
“We are thrilled to join the Disney Springs family with the launch of STK Orlando,” said Jonathan Segal, CEO of The ONE Group. “The combination of an innovative menu and high-energy atmosphere has driven the success of STK, and we believe it will be an ideal addition to Disney Springs, and will help further cement its status as a place for friends and family to gather for fine dining and entertainment.”
Segal added, “Our entrance into the Orlando market represents another example of our continued growth strategy. We remain on track with our expansion plans for 2015 and hope to continue to partner with exciting world-class brands like Walt Disney Parks and Resorts moving forward.”
“STK Orlando is a welcome new addition to Disney Springs. With its innovative, high-energy atmosphere, STK is the perfect complement to our growing array of dining, entertainment and shopping offerings,” said George A. Kalogridis, president, Walt Disney World Resort.
Paradiso 37 has is expanding as part of the Disney Springs redevelopment.
The 5 year old latin restaurant is expanding out into the Village Lake, and making adjustments to the land based patio area. The building itself is also undergoing facade work, which should give it a fresh new look once complete.
The restaurant is open as normal during the construction work.

A new coffee kiosk is now open at Disney's Animal Kingdom on Discovery Island.

Isle of Java is located next to Flame Tree Barbecue on Discovery Island, and serves coffee and a variety of baked goods, including cupcakes, brownies, danish and pastries. A specialty Island Cappuccino drink can be yours for $7.25 which includes white chocolate and spiced rum. Most items are available on the Disney Dining Plan.
Isle of Java is open from park opening to park close, including Extra Magic Hours.
The new kiosk is a permanent home to the former Isle of Java cart that was located near the tip board on Discovery Island.

Creature Comforts at Disney's Animal Kingdom will be closing on January 5 2015.
Although not yet officially announced, it is expected that the shop will become the home of the fourth and final Walt Disney World in-park Starbucks location. The location is ideally located in the center of the park, on the walkway that leads to the Africa section of the park.
The closure is planned to last through to mid-June 2015, which is a similar length of time to the previous three Starbucks conversions. The store currently carries a range of plush and toys, and also provides MyMagic+ assistance.

Kali Rapids will be closed for a short refurbishment in March 2015. The Animal Kingdom water raft ride will close on March 10 through to March 13.

Photo Tour and Deck Plan: Disney Fantasy

The Disney Fantasy took its maiden voyage in 2012 and until 2022, was the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. It's the sister ship to the Disney Dream so you'll see many similarities between the two ships. The Disney Fantasy is an absolutely gorgeous ship, boasting an Art Nouveau style. The ship has 14 decks, 1,250 staterooms, is 1,115 feet in length and weighs 130,000 gross tons. We'll tour the ship starting from Deck 1 up to Deck 14, going from Aft to Forward. Let's start our photo tour! Deck 1 Deck 1 is where you'll find the Health Center. It's also where you can exit the ship to board a tender at Ports of Call that require ships to anchor offshore.  Deck 2 Deck 2 is where you'll find one of the three main dining rooms, Enchanted Garden.  The restaurant transforms throughout dinner, changing from day to night I love these booths! You can also find staterooms, a Midship Detective Agency kiosk and the Vista Gallery showcasing Disney artwork.  Deck

Universal's Volcano Bay Private Cabana Review

On a recent training in Universal Orlando Resort, agents Maci, Ashley, Aubrey and Yaritza and I rented a private cabana for the day at Universal's Volcano Bay. There are multiple locations around the park along with the option to have an upper or lower level, all of which reflect in various pricing. Agent Ashley received an email the day before informing her of where to check-in the next morning. While we were personally escorted to the cabana shortly after check in, the line at the check in location is the same as those getting towels, meaning it was not short. As expressed by an additional guest checking into a different cabana, we would have greatly appreciated a separate line, since this caused our group about a half hour wait. We're all adults and made great use of our time getting some fun pictures before the park was filled with guests, but this is important to be aware of if you are traveling with children.  We had an upper level Cabana which came with a splendid view!

The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel Review

I love staying at the Disneyland Hotel so when I got the opportunity to stay at the new Villas at the Disneyland Hotel during opening weekend, I couldn’t pass it up. Because it was opening weekend, we were greeted in the entrance way of the lobby with balloons and many photo opportunities. When we arrived, there was a mural of the Haunted Mansion. I love how the seats in the main lobby were designed like the teacups in the parks. You can check in using the Disneyland app, drop your bags with bell services and head into the parks or use the amenities why you wait until your room is ready. When your room is ready, the resort will send you a text and you can use the Disneyland app on your mobile device to unlock the room. We dropped off our bags and went straight to the parks. We received a text around 1PM that our room was ready. In the new Discovery Tower (the Villas), you'll find that the lobby is very spacious with many places to sit while you read or wait for your family. Th
