Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage

On our most recent trip to Walt Disney World this past January, I knew I wanted to do something special for my Peter Pan loving 5 year old.  I settled on booking seats on the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage.  Here are the stats for this swashbuckling adventure.

The voyage sets sail every night other than Wednesday, November through May.  June through October it runs nightly with the exception of Wednesdays and Thursdays.  The cost is $34.00 per child and $59.00 per adult.  The price includes snacks at Disney's Contemporary Resort, a meet and greet with Captain Hook and Mr. Smee, the Voyage itself, and a meet and greet with Peter Pan.

The Voyage sets sail from the Contemporary resort.  As instructed, we headed over to the resort an hour and fifteen minutes before Wishes was scheduled to start.  The front desk directed us to a ballroom where we met our fellow pirates for the evening and awaited our hosts.  There were coloring materials out for the kids to pass some time and very comfy couches for the adults to take a load off after a long day at the parks.

Our amazing hosts for the evening, Patch and Patch, came out to greet us and welcomed us to join them in the ballroom for some pirate provisions and a chance to meet Captain Hook and Mr. Smee.  The snacks were simple offerings of pretzels, cake, ice cream and punch.  Just enough to get all of the little pirates sugared up and ready to go!  While everyone snacked, we took turns meeting Captain Hook and Mr. Smee.  This is a great meet and greet opportunity as they are not easily met in the parks.  The lines were short and we were able to spend a good amount of time with them both.  They met together and there was a PhotoPass photographer accompanying them.

I think one of our 5 year old's favorite parts was getting to mingle freely with the other kids.  He quickly became part of a 'pirate crew' and had a blast playing around for the 30-40 minutes we were in the ballroom.

The room was divided into 2 boat groups and each were led out to the dock by their respective Patch.  Both Patch and Patch were incredibly entertaining.  They had great banter between each other and excellent rapport with the kids.  Once on board your boat, you set sail at a comfortable pace until you are positioned with a great view of Cinderella's Castle.

The boat ride over consists of Patch getting to know the passengers aboard, singing songs, and doing a bit of trivia for small prizes.  It is basically a comedy routine at sea.  The hosts truly make this experience.

The actual fireworks viewing is spectacular.  The view is so wonderful and having the music piped in on the boat while you sit and relax is really a great way to see the show!

After Wishes, you head back to the dock at the Contemporary where you are met by a "surprise" guest - Peter Pan!  Peter has a wonderfully interactive meet and greet once you are off of the boat.  This was truly a highlight of our trip.  Our son had a blast messing around after the cruise with Peter.  The meet and greet with Peter is outside in the dark, but there is a PhotoPass photographer with him, so never fear; you will get good photos.

Overall, I think this is a fantastic experience!  We felt it was worth the cost and a really special way to spend an evening.  We chose our last night to go on the cruise and it was the perfect way to end our trip.  Our son still talks about meeting Peter and has his bandana (given to all guests) proudly displayed in his room.  Hopefully this is something all of you with Pirate lovers in the family can enjoy on a trip in the future!

Chronos Club Review at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

I recently stayed at the Chronos Club at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. I've been a fan of Disney's Coronado Springs Resort since my first visit as it reminds me of my hometown, San Antonio. I've stayed in rooms ranging from preferred, Casita Suite, Tower King, and now Club Level access. The Chronos Club is located on the 15th floor of the Gran Destino Tower and can only be accessed with a key card or MagicBand to a corresponding Club Level reservation. I've previously stayed Club Level at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Inn, and Disney's Grand Californian Resort. These are all considered Deluxe Resorts. Something that makes the Chronos Club stand out is that it is located in what Disney considers a Moderate Resort. I was really excited to check out the difference in experience, since there can be a notable difference in price tag for Moderate vs. Deluxe Res

Universal's Volcano Bay Private Cabana Review

On a recent training in Universal Orlando Resort, agents Maci, Ashley, Aubrey and Yaritza and I rented a private cabana for the day at Universal's Volcano Bay. There are multiple locations around the park along with the option to have an upper or lower level, all of which reflect in various pricing. Agent Ashley received an email the day before informing her of where to check-in the next morning. While we were personally escorted to the cabana shortly after check in, the line at the check in location is the same as those getting towels, meaning it was not short. As expressed by an additional guest checking into a different cabana, we would have greatly appreciated a separate line, since this caused our group about a half hour wait. We're all adults and made great use of our time getting some fun pictures before the park was filled with guests, but this is important to be aware of if you are traveling with children.  We had an upper level Cabana which came with a splendid view!

Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes

Black Tap Burgers & Shakes is located at the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort.  It is a fast-casual restaurant, meaning you order your items at the counter, but then they bring it to the table for you.  They have a selection of burgers, wings, salads and chicken and a fun milkshake menu.  If you just want a shake, there's also a walkup window outside, but some special creations can only be ordered for dine-in. We placed our order at the counter and noticed all the tables inside were full. We found a table outside and hung out while we waited for our food to come. They have a full bar and craft beers on tap, but I was surprised to get wine in a can. Strawberry Shortcake Shake We had hoped to have this Crazy Shake for dessert, but it actually came before any of our food. The Strawberry Shortcake is described as a vanilla frosted rim with crumbled cake topped with a strawberry shortcake ice cream bar, pink & white twisty pop, whipped cream, strawberry drizzle
