Aloha! An Aulani Update

Aloha! It’s been awhile since we’ve visited the magical resort of Aulani on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu.  Since my last visit, there have been some exciting additions going on at the resort!  Some of these new areas are open already, with the remainder currently expected to be completed at the end of September.  Let’s take a look at what the menehune are up to! Down towards the lagoon, there are already a few new things to see.  First, there is a second beach access point just below ‘Ama ‘Ama Restaurant.  This new area also has lounge areas with beach chairs and cabanas on the terrace.  On the beach itself, there is a new quick grab-and-go food service station, Little ‘Opihi.  Here you can find sandwiches, salads, and a varitey of snacks and drinks.   I can’t wait to try the Haupia float!  Coconut always calls my name! Happy Birthday, America!

As we celebrate our nation's birthday today at parades, cookouts and fireworks with our loved ones, we must not forget those who have given us the opportunity and freedom to do so. We want to extend our gratitude and thanks to those who have served, and those who continue to serve our country. To each and every man and woman who protect us and keep us safe so that we can live in this beautiful land of the free - thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you do.

New details on how MyMagic will work when it launches towards the end of the year! The exact details are changing fairly frequently and there will still likely be changes between now and the full launch. So remember, none of this information is set in stone. FASTPASS+ You will be able to make FASTPASS+ reservations 60 days out from arrival, plus 10 days, similar to resort reservation dining. The guest will select the park and the three preferred experiences. The system will then return up to 4 groups of availability from which to pick - early, mid day, late, or all day. Grouping of guests allows one My Disney Experience user to copy the details to others traveling in that party with same FASTPASS+ reservations. FASTPASS+ allows one park per day. Return policies will be similar to current FASTPASS - must arrive within time window. You will be able to modify your selected park until you use your first FASTPASS+. Once you use the first FASTPASS+ you can then only modify y

Unique Souvenir Ideas: "Pick-a-Pearl"

Lets talk souvenirs.  When you think Disney souvenirs, you probably picture mouse ears, t-shirts, and antenna toppers.  While these are quintessential mementos all guests should have, I also like to find something unique to help remind me of my vacation memories.  One of my favorite things to do is "Pick a Pearl." At Walt Disney World, there are three locations to experience this- Downtown Disney, Beach Club, and inside the Japan Pavilion at Epcot.  My favorite is the Japan location, which can be found inside the Mitsukoshi store.  You'll know where to go if you follow the banging drum and cheers. The first thing you do is pay for an oyster - about $17.  You will be given a number that will be called when it is your turn.  I've found that going early in the day when it first opens is easiest- it can get pretty busy later in the day. While you wait, scour the tanks for the oyster you'd like to pick.  I've been told to find an ugly, hairy oyst
