2015 Star Wars Weekends

Greetings to all!  I wanted to share with you our experience from Star Wars Weekend at Walt Disney World.  Let me start out by saying that I did not truly know what to expect and the dynamics going into Hollywood Studios on the first official weekend, but boy, I was impressed!  I, myself, had never watched any of the Star Wars movies until my 6 year old son got into the whole Star Wars collection.  His fascination began last year at Hollywood Studios where my tiny Jedi battled Darth Maul, during a “normal” day (Normal days are always magical on Disney property).  From there, we started buying the toys, and since Star Wars Rebels has come out, his life has forever changed.  When we saw in our schedule that Star Wars Weekend would be possible this year, we seized the opportunity and booked it for a special treat for our little man. When we arrived at Hollywood Studios early that morning, we were completely blown away at the turnout.  Adults and children alike were decked out in the 9

Tips for Success with a Timid Child at Walt Disney World

My five year old, Grant, is a VERY timid child.  He comes by this naturally, as I have a fear of all things tall and fast!  After having success in Walt Disney World with Grant on both attractions and meeting characters, I wanted to share some tips with others who might also have little ones with big fears. Preparation: There is a lot you can do to get your kiddos ready for all that awaits them on a Disney vacation, here are my two biggest tips. YouTube videos:  These are AMAZING tools.  Sit down with your child a few times before your trip and watch 'ride through' videos of the rides you are interested in on YouTube.  These videos got Grant so excited about riding the Disney rides, and tipped me off as to what he was most interested in (boat rides).  There is a ride through video for most every ride. Meet non-Disney characters:  Go to a local sporting event (or other location that applies) if you can and get some face time with the mascots.  This should give you a good

Disney's Animal Kingdom is shuffling two of its character meet and greets beginning May 24 2015. Tarzan will be meeting guests on the Discovery Island Trail, near to the Cotton Top Tamarin exhibit at the Tree of Life. Pocahontas will be moving from that location and heading to the Discovery Island Character Landing, with the entrance just opposite the Flame Tree Barbecue. Disney looks to be moving ahead with plans to add waterside Disney vacation Club villas to the Wilderness Lodge Resort. Permits and plans have been filed with the South Florida Water Management District showing a series of one story lodging buildings to the east and west of the Lodge fronting onto Bay Lake. Also included with the project are new restaurants and recreation buildings (also one story) together with new pools and upgrades to existing pools. Wilderness Lodge already has a DVC component to the resort, so this will further add to that inventory and continues to expand the DVC presence at Wa
