London Highlights

London, England is absolutely one of my favorite cities to explore and spend time in.  There is so much to see and do, but also just great atmosphere to sit back and take it slow.  You can plan a trip here on its own or as a stopping point on your way to other European destinations since American Airlines and British Airlines have a partnership, there are often direct flights or flights that layover here.  I've spent a week here and seen how much I could accomplish on a 24 hour layover, while very different experiences - both great trips and options. Here are a few of my favorite things to do or see in London.  This is not an exhaustive list, there's so much to see and do here!  City Highlights On one afternoon walk you can stroll past Buckingham Palace, see Big Ben, take in the atmosphere at Trafalgar Square and of course find a red phone booth! Mediterranean Cruise Itinerary Overview

So you're thinking about taking a Mediterranean cruise with the Disney Cruise Line (DCL), but aren't really sure where to start?  This blog post will give you a brief overview of what to expect and what to look for and there will be other posts with more specific details on the ship, ports of call, and various activities for more details! First of all - the ship.  With DCL, they send the Disney Magic across the Atlantic for their European cruise itineraries.  The Magic sailed her maiden voyage in 1998 but underwent a wonderful dry dock a few years ago so it feels like new!  It's one of DCL's smaller ships, so you get a nice intimate feeling on board.  The cruise ship offers three main dining rooms, one adults only specialty restaurant, both adult and family pools, a theater and movie theater, a spa and fitness center and so much more! The Disney Magic as you approach from tendering into port Next up - the season.  Typically, the Disney Magic is in Mediterranean p

5 Tips to Prepare for International Travel

A trip overseas is a trip of a lifetime for many and can certainly be overwhelming your first time.  It is often a longer trip which means you likely want to pack more than ever, and you are suddenly worried about travel visas, foreign currency and wondering if you’ll be able to charge your electronics. To take some of the burden off, we’ve put together our top five tips to prepare for international travel! 1) Pack Smart. First, check the dimensions and weight limits for your airlines, as they are often smaller and you don’t want to be trying to figure that out at the airport. Research the weather for your destination and plan accordingly. I’ve spent many rainy days in London and Amsterdam, but when prepared, there’s still a ton to do! However, don’t overpack! Trains and public transportation are popular modes of travel and you’ll want to be able to maneuver your own luggage through stations and on platforms. Plan versatile outfits and layers and a laundry stop to lighten the load even

Tower of London Tour Review

One of the great things about taking a cruise to a few different ports is that you get a taste of each location and see if you want to come back for more. In May of 2022 I did a British Isles sailing that sailed out of Amsterdam, went to England, Ireland, Scotland, France and then returned to Amsterdam.  Tower Bridge I figured I would like all of these places, at least to some degree. Some were pleasant surprises, such as Liverpool, which was far better than I thought it was going to be. Some didn’t have the impact I thought they would, such as Stonehenge. It was cool to look at but you can’t really get close to the rock formations as they are roped off. So many of the cities I visited were great such as Cork, Belfast, Edinborough, and I’d happily visit these locations again. The one place that absolutely took my breath away was London. I am from New York City, so I don’t impress easily, but this city completely captivated me. I’m not sure if it was the history, the grandeur, or

Top 3 Things to do in Prague, Czech Republic

Prague, Czech Republic is a city rich with unique history, and having only really existed as it's current independently ruled country for about the last 30 years, is quite a treat to visit.  (Previously it was Czechoslovakia under Communist rule and several others in the centuries prior.) We spent several days here and loved how compact and easy it was to get around with public transportation.  It was easy to hit the highlights and do a bit extra with our time to really get a feel for the city. Walking Tour Since Prague structures date back to Medieval times, the streets of Old Town can be a little confusing at first glance.  A walking tour will give you a good orientation and touch on some of the many highlights such as the astronomical clock and the old Jewish quarter.  A great tour guide will also guide you through the historical changes of power throughout the city and show important locations on the path to the Czech Republic's independence. Our tour left us by the famous
