Top 5 Unique Walt Disney World Quick Service Options

Many people associate theme park food with burgers, pizza, or chicken fingers.  While you can get all of those things at Walt Disney World, here are a few of my favorite quick service restaurants when you want to change things up and get something a bit different or more adventurous.   1) Satu'li Canteen at Disney's Animal Kingdom I remember when Pandora opened in Animal Kingdom and this quick service restaurant was challenging the status quo.  I really feel like this paved the way for the improvement of many Quick Service menus and more creative new openings.  The menu offers build your own bowls with fresh roasted chicken and chimichurri steak among the choices.  The food has been fresh, plentiful and tasty for my many visits here. Read more about Satu'li Canteen here . 2) Columbia Harbor House at Magic Kingdom This unassuming establishment offers a peaceful retreat from the parks.  The star here is the seafood.  You can grab a lobster roll, grilled salmon or shrimp, a fi

Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes

Black Tap Burgers & Shakes is located at the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort.  It is a fast-casual restaurant, meaning you order your items at the counter, but then they bring it to the table for you.  They have a selection of burgers, wings, salads and chicken and a fun milkshake menu.  If you just want a shake, there's also a walkup window outside, but some special creations can only be ordered for dine-in. We placed our order at the counter and noticed all the tables inside were full. We found a table outside and hung out while we waited for our food to come. They have a full bar and craft beers on tap, but I was surprised to get wine in a can. Strawberry Shortcake Shake We had hoped to have this Crazy Shake for dessert, but it actually came before any of our food. The Strawberry Shortcake is described as a vanilla frosted rim with crumbled cake topped with a strawberry shortcake ice cream bar, pink & white twisty pop, whipped cream, strawberry drizzle

Harambe Market at Disney's Animal Kingdom

The Harambe Market is located in Africa in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and is an open air quick service establishment serving tasty bowls and wraps. There’s also a little bar tucked away in the back with a few signature cocktails and beverages that are different than what you can find at the main market. Harambe Market offers both mobile order and traditional queuing to order, but Chef Mwanga's is walk ups only. My personal favorites here are the rice bowls; they are full of flavor, fresh and filling.  You can get chicken, shrimp, or a combo. They also offer kofta pitas with beef and lamb or Impossible meat and salads with shrimp or chicken.  I found the kofta a bit dry and would stick to the bowls in the future. For kids, there are smaller versions of the bowls or chicken nuggets or Uncrustables. The Frozen Flamingo (pictured above) from Harambe Market is bright and refreshing, but we preferred the selection of beverages from Chef Mwanga's for adult libations.  If you s

Tiana’s Palace & Mint Julep Bar

Tiana's Palace at Disneyland opened in September and has been drawing in the crowds to check out what this New Orleans princess has to offer.  The restaurant offers up favorites like house gumbo and shrimp and grits, and of course Tiana's famous beignets.  This is a quick service restaurant in New Orleans Square offering Mobile Order and walk ups as well. We found Mobile Order times to be snatched up quickly in the morning, so plan ahead if this is a must-do for you!   We ordered around 8am as we were getting ready for our day and the earliest time available was after 4pm, However, when we arrived we found no wait for walk up dining, but tables were very hard to come by.   Restaurant Interior  We decided to try a little of everything, and as the menu states, eat dessert first! We found a table while our Mobile Order was being prepared and then went to pick it up at the outside window.  Everything was packed in to-go containers which was surprising, no plates for us!  We tried o

Throwback Thursday: Satu'li Canteen - Forgotten Favorites

While Satu'li Canteen is one of my favorite Quick Service restaurants at Walt Disney World, the menu has changed in the short few years it has been open and some of my favorites have been removed.  I wanted to share a look back at some of the opening year menu items and reminisce together.   There were two main types of entrees on the menu here, the pods and the bowls, that much hasn't changed.  But some of the specifics of these items have.   First up, there used to be two different flavor of pods you could get - cheeseburger and vegetarian.  While Disney's cheeseburger flavored things have been a long-time fan favorite, those vegetarian pods were my personal favorite!  I wonder if they will ever make a comeback, I'd absolutely go back for them. Vegetable Steamed Curry Pods - Bao Buns - Steamed Vegetable Curry Pod with Eggplant, Cauliflower, Sweet Potato, Carrots, and Shallot Cilantro Cream served with Crunchy Vegetable Slaw and Vegetable Chips There was also a heyday

Satu'li Canteen - a Pandorian Delight

When they announced that they would be adding a new Quick Service location to the highly anticipated Pandora in 2017, I was pretty excited. Then they previewed some menu options and I got even more excited, as it all sounded fresh, new and even on the healthy side!  In the 6 years since this establishment has opened, it has become a regular Animal Kingdom stop for me.  I feel like it really started a new wave of creative and delicious Quick Service options at Walt Disney World. Ordering stations and bright menus overhead There are two main features on the menu here, the pods and the bowls.  The bowls are a create-your-own option by mixing and matching their proteins, sauces, and bases (think the Chipotle of Pandora) while the pods are fixed cheeseburger flavor which are very popular. Let's start with the unique and fan-favorite Cheeseburger Pod (bao bun) which is similar to the Cheeseburger Spring Roll from the Adventureland Cart that has a bit of a cult following. An adult portio
