Disney Cruise Line Mixology 101

Recently I had the pleasure of doing a Disney cruise aboard the Dream with some of our clients and their families, as well as some of my agents. We host a yearly Family Cruise and one of the things that we did was a Mixology class. If you are going on one of Disney’s cruises, especially if you have a nice group with you, it can be a lot of fun! Let me explain what it is for those of you that haven’t had the pleasure of doing one.  Mixology is for adults 21 and over. You have a maximum of 30 people in each class which is given at one of the lounges onboard.  In 2015, you had a minimum of 15 in a class, but they have since upped that to a maximum of 30 per class with a 25 person minimum. The cost? $20 per person which gets charged to your stateroom. We were set up in the Skyline Lounge which is located on Deck 4, aft, in the District area of the ship. If you are not familiar with it, the lounge has an upscale look about it with wood paneled walls and ceilings showing of...

Is That Ride Kid Friendly?

So you’ve booked your Walt Disney World vacation, you’ve made your Fastpass+ selections, you’ve finally arrived to the park, and you’re walking up to the Tower of Terror when your kid says, “I don’t know if I want to ride…”  All the thoughts that are now going through your mind, not the least of which is, “I better not have wasted a Fastpass+!” 1. Don’t feel bad, when my kid said it, I silently called him a wuss. 2. Don’t fret. I personally think Disney World does a great job giving insight into what you will experience on the rides. Can you fully explain the drop on Tower of Tower to your kiddo?  No. But, you do have a great visual of the ride from the street below and you can hear the sounds of the people screaming on the ride. This unveiling is true with most of Disney’s “thrill” rides. Splash Mountain  For example,  Rock'n Roller Coaster allows you to view ...

Sailing with Special Needs - A Guest Review of the Disney Magic

Our client, Diana Lee and her family had an amazing experience recently aboard the Disney Magic cruise ship. She was kind enough to share her experiences and advice for our readers: Summer comes, and everyone hits the shore; Outer Banks, Myrtle Beach, or Virginia Beach. Come winter, kids go snow tubing down the big hills in the neighborhood, and wonderful ski trips are planned. But for our family, it's different. My daughter is ventilator dependent, cannot sit up, and is pushed around in a wheelchair weighed down by various life-saving medical equipment. A Vacation of a lifetime aboard the Disney Magic! What does this mean? It means that my bright-minded, but physically disabled, child cannot do anything that normal kids do, despite her ever whirling mind. Wherever we go, we don’t fit or are in the way, and feel like an intrusion. With so many medical needs, we are often quite tired by the end of the day, and always have to tag team when trying to allow our other childre...
