Tiffins Restaurant Review at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Tiffins Restaurant opened a few years ago at Disney's Animal Kingdom and instantly became one of my favorite restaurants on property!  The restaurant itself is beautiful and the menu has some unique dishes but still offers something to cater to everyone's tastes.  It is located on Discovery Island right before you cross the path into Pandora so it's easy to get to from a lot of the park.  Tiffins is classified as Signature Dining (two credits on the Disney Dining Plan) so you are in for an upscale treat. I like to start every visit here with a trip to the Nomad Lounge, attached and to the left of the entrance.  This is a stop worth checking out on its own with great attention to detail for the traveling nomad.  They offer small plates and a variety of specialty cocktails.  They also offer wine, beer and non-alcoholic specialties.  The bartenders here are always wonderful and helped me pick out a drink on multiple occasions.  Not pictured here, but the Hightower Rocks is

Harambe Market at Disney's Animal Kingdom

The Harambe Market is located in Africa in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and is an open air quick service establishment serving tasty bowls and wraps. There’s also a little bar tucked away in the back with a few signature cocktails and beverages that are different than what you can find at the main market. Harambe Market offers both mobile order and traditional queuing to order, but Chef Mwanga's is walk ups only. My personal favorites here are the rice bowls; they are full of flavor, fresh and filling.  You can get chicken, shrimp, or a combo. They also offer kofta pitas with beef and lamb or Impossible meat and salads with shrimp or chicken.  I found the kofta a bit dry and would stick to the bowls in the future. For kids, there are smaller versions of the bowls or chicken nuggets or Uncrustables. The Frozen Flamingo (pictured above) from Harambe Market is bright and refreshing, but we preferred the selection of beverages from Chef Mwanga's for adult libations.  If you s

Can a Disney Vacation Be Educational?

Travel is one of the most educational life experiences to give a child. A trip to Walt Disney World is no different. Disney Parks attractions are interesting, educational, and fun at the same time! There are valuable learning opportunities for your children in every subject area. For geography buffs, there are entire countries to explore. Get hands-on, in depth experience from around the world in Epcot’s World Showcase. Epcot offers cool "Kidcot" stops for extra learning fun! Children can try food and drinks from other countries, and even meet Cast Members from those actual countries who come to work at Disney. Your child will also see the different architecture and dress, hear languages and music, and taste foods of many different cultures.  For those who love history, especially American history, there is plenty to see! Walking through Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom is like going back to Colonial America. Take a ride on the Liberty Square Riverboat or enter the Hall

Throwback Thursday: Satu'li Canteen - Forgotten Favorites

While Satu'li Canteen is one of my favorite Quick Service restaurants at Walt Disney World, the menu has changed in the short few years it has been open and some of my favorites have been removed.  I wanted to share a look back at some of the opening year menu items and reminisce together.   There were two main types of entrees on the menu here, the pods and the bowls, that much hasn't changed.  But some of the specifics of these items have.   First up, there used to be two different flavor of pods you could get - cheeseburger and vegetarian.  While Disney's cheeseburger flavored things have been a long-time fan favorite, those vegetarian pods were my personal favorite!  I wonder if they will ever make a comeback, I'd absolutely go back for them. Satu'li Canteen - a Pandorian Delight

When they announced that they would be adding a new Quick Service location to the highly anticipated Pandora in 2017, I was pretty excited. Then they previewed some menu options and I got even more excited, as it all sounded fresh, new and even on the healthy side!  In the 6 years since this establishment has opened, it has become a regular Animal Kingdom stop for me.  I feel like it really started a new wave of creative and delicious Quick Service options at Walt Disney World. Ordering stations and bright menus overhead There are two main features on the menu here, the pods and the bowls.  The bowls are a create-your-own option by mixing and matching their proteins, sauces, and bases (think the Chipotle of Pandora) while the pods are fixed cheeseburger flavor which are very popular. Let's start with the unique and fan-favorite Cheeseburger Pod (bao bun) which is similar to the Cheeseburger Spring Roll from the Adventureland Cart that has a bit of a cult following. Pongu Pongu at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Pongu Pongu is a Quick Service drink stand located in Pandora - The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Although Pongu Pongu is primarily a drink stand, the location is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves snacks, as well as beverages, that are out of this world.  If you aren't sure where to find Pongu Pongu, just look for the AMP suit (aka the giant robot looking thing) and you're there! There isn't any seating available at this drink stand so you can take your drinks/snacks to-go as you explore Pandora or you can grab a seat at the outdoor seating area next door at Satu'li Canteen. Note that the seating area for Satu'li Canteen is reserved for guests dining at that restaurant but you are more than welcome to sit there before the restaurant opens with your items from Pongu Pongu.
