Between dragon dens, dark castles, and toadstools, we tried lots of good food at Epic Universe. Some bites were so good I’m still dreaming about them. Others, not so much.
Here are 5 things we loved at Epic Universe (plus a few side notes of what we didn't.)
🐉 1. Meatlug’s Chicken Bowl – Spit Fyre Grill (Isle of Berk)
Spit Fyre Grill is a counter service spot near the ride Fyre Drill. You can mobile order or walk up to order at the window. The Chicken bowl? Absolute fire. Meatlug knows what’s up. It was savory, and flavorful and just felt right in Berk.
It was a chicken breast on a stick, with a delicious drizzle of paprika sauce, grilled brussel sprouts, roasted red peppers, shredded cheddar, and ancient grains. Healthy, but satistfying! I also tried the Rekorderlig Strawberry-Lime Cider, it’s basically summer in a cup. Highly recommend if you like your drinks sweet and a little sparkly.

Stoics Steak Bowl |
Kingdom Konsultants Owner, Pam, had Stoic's Steak Bowl and said it was also a great choice. It's sticky rice, tenderloin steak, roasted balsamic mushrooms, sweet potato hash, Manchego cheese, horseradish sauce.
🪄 2. Butterbeer Crêpe – Café L'air de la Sirène (Ministry of Magic)
Dine inside or outside as you enjoy French baked goods, sandwiches, plats du jour and desserts. Bieraubeurre Crêpe is a light and perfectly cooked crepe with Bieraubeurre cream, strawberries, Bieraubeurre drizzle, and a shortbread cookie garnish, a.k.a heaven on a plate. I’m convinced this crêpe is straight from France.

Bier au Beurre (Butterbeer) Crepe |
I had a lavender lemonade that was really refreshing, too. We also tried the Croissant Suprême which is egg, and fromage blanc, on a croissant bun and seasonal berries with lavender honey. Tasty, but tiny. The real MVP was the berries drizzled in honey. Would I order again? Nope, I'll stick with the crepes,

🧟♂️ 3. Darkmoor Monster Burger – Das Stakehouse (Dark Universe)
Shrouded in mystery, Das Stakehaus is an old inn built over the ruins of ancient catacombs. Here you can enjoy a meal surrounded by vampire artwork and artifacts. Let’s be honest: I ordered this because the bun is black, and that’s cool.
Flavor-wise? Pretty good. I'd do it again. It had some jalapeños on it, which added a kick. I think this was a good value for the price because it was very filling.

Red Velvet Death |
I also tried the Red Velvet Death dessert, which sadly lived up to its name—dead on flavor. It looked cute but needed way more frosting and could be bigger. A pass for me. But, it was fun for the photos!
Agent Betsy had the Bird on a Stake, which was grilled chicken skewers, served with roasted veggies and charred green onion mashed potatoes. She said it was delicious and it was nice to have such a healthy option in a theme park.

🧙♀️ 4. Baklava – Le Gobelet Noir (Ministry of Magic)
This restaurant is a hotspot for witches and wizards to gather and escape the prying eyes of the Paris Ministry. This beauty was only $6.99, but it tasted like something you’d find in a high-end pastry case. Flaky, golden, buttery perfection. It was filled with pistachio, walnuts, vegan anglaise, and coconut nectar. I wasn’t expecting it to be so good. It paired well with the classic, cold Butterbeer (if you love sweets like me).
Agent Betsy's lentil stew was really good and came in a massive portion. Perfect if you're starving and need something filling. She said it was very tasty, but wasn't a fan of the bread on the side.

Jagerschnitzel |
The Ancient Forest salad, on the other hand? Not my favorite. I knew I was going into a sugar coma between the Butterbeer and the baklava, so I wanted to get something light and healthy. It was just OK, I wouldnt get it again. The vinaigrette dressing wasn't the greatest, and the dried fruit was very chewy.
Agent Pam had the Jägerschnitzel – a crispy pork cutlet, brown mushroom gravy, and tavern frites. She said it was good, but a little too crispy.
✨️Fun Fact: the residence above Le Gobelet Noir belongs to Nicolas Flamel, the famed French alchemist known for creating the Philosopher’s Stone.
🧀 5. Mac & Cheese Cones - Spit Fyre Grill (Isle of Berk)
It’s like theme park comfort food in a cone-shaped hug. It was creamy macaroni and cheese in an everything bagel-style cone. It had a few little Goldfish crackers on top for fun.

Macarons – K. Ramelles Sweet Shop (Ministry of Magic)
Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Also yes. These little colorful gems are $4 each, but they’re delicate, fluffy, and full of flavor.. If you want a treat that’s sweet and cute enough for Instagram, this is it. The worst part is choosing which ones to try!
😟Bite I didn't get but WISH I had:
I didn’t try anything in Super Nintendo World (sorry, Mario), but Toadstool Cafe didn't have anything that jumped out at me except maybe the Princess Cake. I’m already planning to go back for a DK Crush Float: Banana + pineapple soft serve float with pineapple soda, waffle bowl, toffee pieces, and caramel popcorn over in Donkey Kong Country!
Final thoughts: Eat the crêpes. Try the black burger bun. Have a frozen Butterbeer. And don’t be afraid to splurge on a macaron or two—you’re on vacation, after all.
