The Isle of Berk spans about 15.5 acres. You’ll see 30 dragons representing 17 different species around the land — some in animatronic displays, others as interactive encounters. It features 3 rides, 1 show, and 1 playground. Each of the rides has a Family Room for Rider Swap, or a place to wait if someone in the party doesn't want to ride.

1. Hiccup’s Wing Gliders- Family coaster / “flying glider” experience. A glider-style roller coaster where riders “fly” across the lagoon and over Berk. The ride reaches speeds of up to 45 mph. This coaster may be a bit intense for anyone under 5. The ride height is 40" and it reminds me a lot of 7 Dwarfs Mine train and Slinky Dog Dash. There are free, facial recognition lockers available to store your belongings.
2. Fyre Drill- A water-based interactive ride that involves dragons and fire-themed effects. You do get soaked! They have a box onboard each boat to keep your stuff dry in while you ride. You can shoot other boats with water, and they will shoot you, too! There are stand-in dryers at the exit for $7, but we dried quickly in the hot Florida sun.

4. Viking Training Camp- Interactive playground. This is an awesome children’s area with slides, climbing structures, baby dragon-themed elements, and more. This area is for children only. There are bathrooms and a drinking fountain in the play area. It has nets, tunnels, stairs, slides, obstacle courses, instruments, and a few things for toddlers to play on too. Every theme park needs a playground!!
5. The Untrainable Dragon is an unforgettable live performance. It weaves together Viking characters (Hiccup, Astrid, Gobber), a dragon flight, visual effects, and storyline to tell the tale of a wild new dragon that resists training. Characters roam before and after shows, allowing guest interaction. Hiccup and Toothless fly over the crowd. The costumes, animatronics and music are all amazing. The Untrainable Dragon is one of two large-scale stage shows in Epic Universe and a great break from walking. The story is very cute, featuring baby dragons.
Meeting dragons and Vikings is a big part of the magic in Berk. Here’s what to expect:
- Toothless & Hiccup: In Haddock Paddock guests can meet an animatronic, interactive version of Toothless (Night Fury), often alongside Hiccup. You may feed him compliments or touch gently.
- Astrid & Stormfly: Astrid sometimes appears with her dragon Stormfly, especially near Haddock Paddock.
- Ruffnut & Tuffnut- Expect antics from this mischievous pair. They may roam near the Fyre Drill area or Mead Hall.
- Gobber + Grump: At times you’ll find Gobber at the Forge, with his dragon (Hotburple/Grump) relaxing nearby.
- Night Lights- The babies of Toothless and the Light Fury (like Dart, Ruffrunner, Pouncer) may be seen napping in Toothless’ Treasures.
- The Night Lights [baby dragons] appear on the hour only for about 7 minutes. You cannot touch them. The come out by the bathrooms near Spit Fyre Grill.
Other dragon species you’ll spot in displays, stores, or animatronics: Triple Stryke, Rumblehorn, Snagglefang, Deathsong, Scuttleclaws, Terrible Terrors, Stormcutter (Cloudjumper).
Character appearances are often unscheduled and roam the land, so be alert and patient.

1. The Mead Hall: The “main” quick service dining venue in Berk. Expect hearty meats, fish, sandwiches, rustic décor, communal seating, and a Viking feast vibe. Mead Hall offers Mobile Order via the Universal Orlando app. Step inside, find a table, scan the QR code on the table and place your feast order! The mobile order will prompt you to enter your table number. Once your order is ready, Team Members bring your food straight to you! Here are two popular dishes served here:

There is a mobile order option here. The wait was very long each time I ate here. The seating, unlike at the Mead Hall, is outside in a covered pavilion.
