Le Cellier Review

Imagine returning home from your Disney World vacation and telling your friends and family you dined on cheddar cheese soup, pretzel bread and filet mignon, in a wine cellar!! Yep, believe it or not, this is totally doable!
Fashioned to replicate a wine cellar (hence the name) Le Cellier has no windows, has racks and racks of wine, is dimly lit and is a perfect restaurant for an intimate meal. Even the menus are illuminated!
Le Cellier became a Signature restaurant in March, 2011, and many recurring guests could not see spending 2 Disney Dining Plan credits per person for dinner. I will say, we do visit Le Celllier every trip, and never have had a bad meal. However, several items that were well known at Le Cellier, disappeared off of the menu, during the change over;  their *to die for* cream cheese mashed potatoes, as well as the Lobster macaroni and cheese.... Poof ... gone. (Why Le Cellier, why!?!?!?!) In all fairness, loaded mashed potatoes are now offered (described as Nueske's…

Tips for Success with a Timid Child at Walt Disney World

My five year old, Grant, is a VERY timid child.  He comes by this naturally, as I have a fear of all things tall and fast!  After having success in Walt Disney World with Grant on both attractions and meeting characters, I wanted to share some tips with others who might also have little ones with big fears.

There is a lot you can do to get your kiddos ready for all that awaits them on a Disney vacation, here are my two biggest tips.

YouTube videos:  These are AMAZING tools.  Sit down with your child a few times before your trip and watch 'ride through' videos of the rides you are interested in on YouTube.  These videos got Grant so excited about riding the Disney rides, and tipped me off as to what he was most interested in (boat rides).  There is a ride through video for most every ride.Meet non-Disney characters:  Go to a local sporting event (or other location that applies) if you can and get some face time with the mascots.  This should give you a good read on h…

Where in the (Disney) World can you find this?

Disney's Animal Kingdom is shuffling two of its character meet and greets beginning May 24 2015. Tarzan will be meeting guests on the Discovery Island Trail, near to the Cotton Top Tamarin exhibit at the Tree of Life. Pocahontas will be moving from that location and heading to the Discovery Island Character Landing, with the entrance just opposite the Flame Tree Barbecue.
Disney looks to be moving ahead with plans to add waterside Disney vacation Club villas to the Wilderness Lodge Resort. Permits and plans have been filed with the South Florida Water Management District showing a series of one story lodging buildings to the east and west of the Lodge fronting onto Bay Lake. Also included with the project are new restaurants and recreation buildings (also one story) together with new pools and upgrades to existing pools. Wilderness Lodge already has a DVC component to the resort, so this will further add to that inventory and continues to expand the DVC presence at Walt Disney Worl…

La Hacienda de San Angel Review

When La Hacienda de San Angel opened in September, 2010 (officially taking reservations in October, 2010), it was a *must try* for many Disney World vacationers. Offering authentic Mexican cuisine as well as more-than-perfect views of Illuminations, Reflections of Earth, we always thought, "what could possibly be better?!!?" Before I delve into my thoughts about this fine establishment, let me give you a little bit of a back story about this restaurant....
A Mexican family restored an old hacienda, and reopened it to guests and to serve food. The artwork and pottery you will notice throughout the "hacienda" gives a hint that they were created by the owner. Nice touch!
La Hacienda is located directly across from the Temple Pyramid, which also houses San Angel Inn and La Cava del Tequila. (Avocado margarita anyone?)
Just a side note ... love margaritas? Daring enough to try something a little different?? How about a Mango Blueberry Basil Margarita, or a Rosita Margarita…

Disney has announced that a preview of the upcoming Disney-Pixar movie 'Inside Out' will be coming to Epcot's Magic Eye Theater later this month. The theater is currently hosting an extended preview of Tomorrowland which has replaced the theater's regular show - Captain EO. Disney had previously said that Captain EO would be returning following the conclusion of the Tomorrowland preview, but this latest move perhaps suggests that

Captain EO will not be returning. The Inside Out preview will begin on May 30 2015.
The DinoLand Dance-A-Palooza at Disney's Animal Kingdom will have its final performance on May 9 2015. The Dance-A-Palooza is a character dance party located near to Chester and Hester's in DinoLand U.S.A., featuring a changing line-up of characters, but typically Mushu, Miko, Thumper, Miss Bunny, Brer Fox, Flik, Stilt Walkers, Timon. If you want to catch the Dance-A-Palooza before it leaves, times vary, but there are typically two shows, with the first at 3…

Walt Disney World with Teens and Tweens

No longer Princess obsessed, but not ready for cocktails at Trader Sam’s…What is there for teens and tweens at Walt Disney World?  Plenty!  As a matter of fact, the past vacation with my 14 and 12 year old daughters was one of my most favorite to date.  Our vacations have a different vibe than they did when we were searching out Tinker Bell for an autograph and making dining reservations at Cinderella’s Royal Table, but that doesn’t mean the MAGIC is gone.  There’s plenty more magic to discover as my kids grow into teenagers.  Here’s a list of things my daughters enjoy that may have a place in your future Walt Disney World vacation!

EPCOT Shopping
Checking out the shops in World Showcase used to mean moans and groans from the kids.  Now they’ve discovered really cool things, shopping in World Showcase has joined our must do list.  Japan has really cool Hello Kitty, Domo and Nintendo themed gifts.  Travel further back into the shop and watch the oysters being opened and made into jewelr…

The brand new Kiki Tikis Splash Play area is now open in the Lava Pool area at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.
The splash play area that is part of the newly expanded deck space at the Lava Pool features a whole host of wading pools, water jets, waterfalls, and two slides - one enclosed. Adding splash areas has been a recent trend at the moderate and deluxe resorts, but the Polynesian looks to have the best of the bunch.
