DAS Card Updates

As many of you already know, Disney goes above and beyond other theme parks when it comes to accommodating guests with disabilities.  The Disability Access Service card, or DAS card for short, has been a great tool for families that might not be able to wait in line for an extended period of time for various medical reasons.  In the past, guests would go to Guest Relations upon entering the park, request the bright green DAS card, and Guest Relations would take a photo of the guest for the front of the card.  Disney is now making this system electronic, to blend seamlessly with the MyMagic+ technology already being used throughout the parks and resorts.

The procedures for acquiring and using the Disability Access Service has not changed, but instead of carrying around a paper card, it will all be set up on the ticket media that the guest used to enter the park; either a Magicband or plastic ticket.  Once the DAS card is linked, the guest will go to the attraction of their choosing to …

Kona Cafe Review

Two words .... TONGA TOAST! I bet that got your attention! Hold that thought... Kona Cafe is located in Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, on the second floor of the lobby. Being just a hop, skip and a jump from the Monorail, Kona Cafe is very easy to get to for breakfast, lunch or dinner, from any resort or park. Kona Cafe breakfast on arrival day is a tradition of ours.
We started off our "I've been craving this for months" breakfast with:

Liliko'i JuicePassion juice, orange juice, guava juice.
Known by a few other names (Stitch juice, Pog Juice) this is often compared to "Frunch" at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge's Boma Restaurant. Nope, its not the same (I know! I swore it was the same recipe!) Just a wonderful blend of flavors!

My son is a coffee and chocolate lover, so anything combining the two, he's on it.
Cafe Mocha

Kona Cafe has excellent coffee, and the blend here is just wonderful.

Now, back to Tonga Toast! Oh yes, this is definitely …

Cruising with an Infant on Disney Cruise Line

Have you thought about taking the plunge and doing a Disney Cruise, but then quickly get your head out of the clouds and realize that you have a kiddo between the age of 6 to 18 months?

Ok, many of you may think what I am about to say is absolutely crazy but if you have a 6 month - 18 month old child, GET ON THE DISNEY CRUISE SHIP!  This will absolutely be the easiest vacation you will ever take with a young child of any age!

My family and I just returned from a 7 night Western Caribbean cruise on the beautiful Disney Magic.  We have two beautiful girls, age 7 and 8 months old, and I can honestly say that taking this cruise with our girls was the easiest week my husband and I have spent during a vacation!

So let's talk about what made this trip so much easier than others.
With a few exceptions, almost all of the food is included in the price of your cruise!  Our 8 month old has allergies to dairy, gluten, and soy.  The first night we were there, we talked with our head server an…

Jiminy Cricket will be returning to Disney's Animal Kingdom for meet and greets next week.
Appearing at Rafiki's Planet Watch during Earth Day week, look for Jiminy from 10am to 4:30pm, April 19 to 25 2015.
Jiminy meet and greets at Disney's Animal Kingdom were available daily until November 2011 when he was removed from the meet and greet line-up. Animal Kingdom was the last place to meet Jiminy after he was removed from Magic Kingdom, leaving Walt Disney World without any location to meet the "Pinocchio" character.
Following the announcement that 'Fr…

Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage

On our most recent trip to Walt Disney World this past January, I knew I wanted to do something special for my Peter Pan loving 5 year old.  I settled on booking seats on the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage.  Here are the stats for this swashbuckling adventure.

The voyage sets sail every night other than Wednesday, November through May.  June through October it runs nightly with the exception of Wednesdays and Thursdays.  The cost is $34.00 per child and $59.00 per adult.  The price includes snacks at Disney's Contemporary Resort, a meet and greet with Captain Hook and Mr. Smee, the Voyage itself, and a meet and greet with Peter Pan.

The Voyage sets sail from the Contemporary resort.  As instructed, we headed over to the resort an hour and fifteen minutes before Wishes was scheduled to start.  The front desk directed us to a ballroom where we met our fellow pirates for the evening and awaited our hosts.  There were coloring materials out for the kids to pass some time and very c…

Boatwright's Dining Hall Review

Boatwright’s Dining Hall is one of those Walt Disney World restaurants that would be easy to miss if you’re not a guest of Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort, but if you have the chance to dine there—don’t skip it!  Boatwright’s is located between the River Roost Lounge and the Riverside Mill Food Court in the main building at Port Orleans Riverside.  It serves breakfast and dinner and typically doesn’t require advance reservations.

On our previous trip, we had spent the day park hopping and couldn’t decide if we wanted to spend the time and energy getting to Downtown Disney for dinner.  We decided Boatwright’s was just the ticket, and had a short 5 minute wait.  Boatwright’s is larger than it seems when you are walking by—there is the dining area that you see under the partially constructed boat, but there is another lovely, quiet room tucked away in the back, with a fireplace.  We were seated in this quiet room.

The menu is full of what I would describe as bayou comfort food.  Gu…
