DCL Palo: Brunch or Dinner?

Ahoy, Disney Fans!!!

     Today I am tackling a hard topic. It's a decision that every adult Guest has to face when they sail on a Disney Cruise: Do I go to Palo for brunch or for dinner????

     Oooo, so hard to choose! Both are fantastic, but I have a clear favorite! First, let me explain to those readers who may not know, Palo is an exclusive, adults only restaurant on board the Disney ships. It has Venetian theming and décor, an incredible menu, impeccable service, and gorgeous, open vistas of the sea from it's panoramic windows. If Guests choose to dine in Palo, they can do so for a fee of $30 per person, ($89 per person if you want to include wine pairings with dinner). You can opt for dinner or brunch. Yes, Guests can do both sometimes, depending on availability, but more often than not, you will have to choose one. Reservations are required and can be booked 120 days before your sail date for Concierge and Platinum Guests, 105 days in advance for Gold Guests,  90 days in advance for Silver Guests and 75 days in advance for First Time Cruisers. You can also sometimes book once on board the ship, but expect availability to be extremely limited, if available at all. Palo does have a dress code, which requires men to wear dress pants and a dress shirt, or a jacket. Women must wear a dress, pants suit, or blouse and skirt. Jeans may also be worn if they are in good condition and have no holes. Shorts, capri pants, sneakers and flip flops are not allowed for either gender.

   



     Dinner is an elegant, multi-course affair, with fine Italian cuisine and lavish, amazing desserts. Just like in the main dining rooms, you can choose as much or as little food for your meal as you want. You can order a filet, and get a side of the ravioli if you like. There are plenty of options, from seafood, to pastas, pizzas to ossobuco. And you can't miss the chocolate soufflé! Disney Cruisers dream of it after they've tried it! If you do make a reservation for Palo dinner, you will skip your dinner in the main dining room, and go to Palo at your designated reservation time, so you'll want to be sure that you aren't booked for a night that you'll be bummed to miss out on, like Pirate Night, or Captain's Gala Night.







                                         




     Brunch is offered on days at sea, on 4 night cruises or longer. You'll want to skip having any sort of breakfast or lunch, because you'll have more food than you can handle at brunch! There are buffet tables set up with breads, fruits and veggies, cold meats and seafood, cheeses, desserts and more. You'll also get a menu to order from. You can choose pancakes and omelets, or chicken parmesan and pizzas. Or all of the above! Your server will encourage you to eat until you practically have to be wheeled out of the place. You probably don't want to have any big plans for that afternoon, because you're gonna need a nap!









     Soooooo..... back to the million dollar question. If I had to pick one meal, I'd personally go with brunch. It's the more impressive of the two meals, with the largest variety of items. I also love that since it is daytime, you can see the gorgeous ocean all around you. Really, you can't go wrong with either meal, and I would definitely encourage you to try both at some point, but if you're picking just one.... I say BRUNCH IT UP!

    According to the Disney Cruise web page jeans can be worn at Palo. "To preserve the elegant ambiance of this restaurant, you are asked to adhere to a dress code when dining at Palo. We recommend dress pants or slacks and a collared shirt for men, and a dress, skirt or pants and a blouse for women. Jeans may also be worn if in good condition (no holes). Please no tank tops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, shorts, hats, cut-offs, torn clothing, t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics, flip-flops or tennis shoes."

Universal's Volcano Bay Private Cabana Review

On a recent training in Universal Orlando Resort, agents Maci, Ashley, Aubrey and Yaritza and I rented a private cabana for the day at Universal's Volcano Bay. There are multiple locations around the park along with the option to have an upper or lower level, all of which reflect in various pricing. Agent Ashley received an email the day before informing her of where to check-in the next morning. While we were personally escorted to the cabana shortly after check in, the line at the check in location is the same as those getting towels, meaning it was not short. As expressed by an additional guest checking into a different cabana, we would have greatly appreciated a separate line, since this caused our group about a half hour wait. We're all adults and made great use of our time getting some fun pictures before the park was filled with guests, but this is important to be aware of if you are traveling with children.  We had an upper level Cabana which came with a splendid view!

The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel Review

I love staying at the Disneyland Hotel so when I got the opportunity to stay at the new Villas at the Disneyland Hotel during opening weekend, I couldn’t pass it up. Because it was opening weekend, we were greeted in the entrance way of the lobby with balloons and many photo opportunities. When we arrived, there was a mural of the Haunted Mansion. I love how the seats in the main lobby were designed like the teacups in the parks. You can check in using the Disneyland app, drop your bags with bell services and head into the parks or use the amenities why you wait until your room is ready. When your room is ready, the resort will send you a text and you can use the Disneyland app on your mobile device to unlock the room. We dropped off our bags and went straight to the parks. We received a text around 1PM that our room was ready.
