Early Morning Magic: Magic Kingdom

There are a lot of hard ticket events going on at Walt Disney World these days.  If you have the extra budget to play with, it can be hard to choose which one is right for you.  On a recent trip, we opted to splurge on the Early Morning Magic at the Magic Kingdom which takes place in Fantasyland.

We had to be up bright and early, but thankfully we were staying nearby at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort so it was only a 15 minute walk from our room to the front gates to check in.  The event started at 7:45am, before the Magic Kingdom opened to the rest of the days' guests. It was a little rough to get up, but if there's ever a reason to wake up at 6:30am, it is Disney!  After our quick walk over we arrived right around 7:45am and were quickly through the turnstiles and heading down Main Street, U.S.A.

Once we reached the hub area things really opened up and it was amazing to see such an empty Magic Kingdom.  We were steered towards Fantasyland where the rides were open and ready for us to have some fun.

With so little crowds it was hard to choose what to do first, but we quickly decided to go on a classic, Peter Pan's Flight.  In no time at all we were flying over Neverland!

Now that we were warmed up, we headed over to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train to get some morning thrills.  There were a handful of people here but we still essentially walked right on to the coaster.

We could have easily ridden those two all morning with the crowds still not building up, but we wanted to get a variety of Fantasyland in so we kept moving along to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and the Mad Tea Party.

It was just after 8:30am at this point so we still had a little time before the park opened to the public at 9am.  We decided to head over to meet the princesses and Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid with Ariel.

With everything we wanted to accomplish in Fantasyland done, and the rest of the park nearing opening at 9am, we headed towards Big Thunder Mountain Railroad for another thrill before the lines started to build and were happily riding the wildest ride in the wilderness in just a few minutes through the queue.

All that fun had us working up quite an appetite, so we finished the morning by heading to Cosmic Rays where the included breakfast was set up for the event. We were all given a plate of hot food that included eggs, sausage, bacon and pancakes and then there was a cold buffet with pastries, yogurt and fruit.  There was also coffee, tea, juice and water to round out the meal. It was quick and easy to get food and grab a seat and there was plenty to please everyone's pallet.

Breakfast (and the event) wrapped up at 10am and we had gotten so much done already! At the time of writing, this event is $79 for adults and $69 for children which seems steep at first glance, but we felt we got a great value by being able to ride so many things with little to no wait and getting a nice filling breakfast.  We wouldn't hesitate to do this again, especially if we were going during a crowded time of year.

Universal's Volcano Bay Private Cabana Review

On a recent training in Universal Orlando Resort, agents Maci, Ashley, Aubrey and Yaritza and I rented a private cabana for the day at Universal's Volcano Bay. There are multiple locations around the park along with the option to have an upper or lower level, all of which reflect in various pricing. Agent Ashley received an email the day before informing her of where to check-in the next morning. While we were personally escorted to the cabana shortly after check in, the line at the check in location is the same as those getting towels, meaning it was not short. As expressed by an additional guest checking into a different cabana, we would have greatly appreciated a separate line, since this caused our group about a half hour wait. We're all adults and made great use of our time getting some fun pictures before the park was filled with guests, but this is important to be aware of if you are traveling with children.  We had an upper level Cabana which came with a splendid view!

The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel Review

I love staying at the Disneyland Hotel so when I got the opportunity to stay at the new Villas at the Disneyland Hotel during opening weekend, I couldn’t pass it up. Because it was opening weekend, we were greeted in the entrance way of the lobby with balloons and many photo opportunities. When we arrived, there was a mural of the Haunted Mansion. I love how the seats in the main lobby were designed like the teacups in the parks. You can check in using the Disneyland app, drop your bags with bell services and head into the parks or use the amenities why you wait until your room is ready. When your room is ready, the resort will send you a text and you can use the Disneyland app on your mobile device to unlock the room. We dropped off our bags and went straight to the parks. We received a text around 1PM that our room was ready.
