Black Tap Burgers & Shakes is located at the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort.  It is a fast-casual restaurant, meaning you order your items at the counter, but then they bring it to the table for you.  They have a selection of burgers, wings, salads and chicken and a fun milkshake menu.  If you just want a shake, there's also a walkup window outside, but some special creations can only be ordered for dine-in. We placed our order at the counter and noticed all the tables inside were full. We found a table outside and hung out while we waited for our food to come. They have a full bar and craft beers on tap, but I was surprised to get wine in a can. Tiana's Palace at Disneyland opened in September and has been drawing in the crowds to check out what this New Orleans princess has to offer.  The restaurant offers up favorites like house gumbo and shrimp and grits, and of course Tiana's famous beignets.  This is a quick service restaurant in New Orleans Square offering Mobile Order and walk ups as well. We found Mobile Order times to be snatched up quickly in the morning, so plan ahead if this is a must-do for you!   We ordered around 8am as we were getting ready for our day and the earliest time available was after 4pm, However, when we arrived we found no wait for walk up dining, but tables were very hard to come by.   Restaurant Interior  We decided to try a little of everything, and as the menu states, eat dessert first! Disneyland, known as the “Happiest Place on Earth” is the original park which Walt Disney opened for both children and adults. Originally, Walt Disney wanted to call the park “Mickey Mouse Park” or “Disneylandia” and later settled on Disneyland. Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955 with 18 rides and attractions including Autopia, Disneyland Railroad, Jungle Cruise, King Arthur Carrousel, Peter Pan and the Mad Tea Party. The five original lands that opened were Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and of course, Main Street USA.  Presently, Disneyland Park consists of nine themed “lands” and 52 attractions (including 49 rides). The nine themed lands are Main Street, USA, Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Critter Country, New Orleans Square, Mickey’s Toontown and Galaxy’s Edge.   Since I recently had the opportunity to visit Disneyland for the first time after visiting Walt Disney World countless times (truly…I worked and lived there and have visited more times than I can count), so many people said to me, “I can’t wait to hear your comparison!” Well friends, its time, and here’s what I can tell you: They don’t compare. They are two completely different vacation destinations and while there is a natural tendency to compare one to the other and they certainly share similarities, overall, its apples and oranges. Starting with the obvious: Size . Disneyland Resort has 2 parks, 3 resorts, and a Downtown Disney area. When Disneyland opened in 1955, it was just the original park, and over time as they were able to acquire more of the surrounding land, they turned the parking lot into Disney California Adventure and built parking structures about a mile from the parks. While at Disneyland, several Kingdom Konsultant Agents wanted to try the famous Blue Bayou Restaurant in Disneyland Park. Blue Bayou is located in New Orleans Square, INSIDE Pirates of the Caribbean, in fact! When you start your journey on Pirates, as you sail through the quiet bayou, the restaurant is part of the ambience. It’s a beautiful space, always night time, with lanterns and moss hanging from the ceiling. Prime seating is by the water but we didn’t request those accommodations as we were just happy to be inside the famed Blue Bayou!   Alcoholic beverages are served at Blue Bayou, but we stuck to soft drinks for this meal. Agent Ashley did order the signature (non-alcoholic) Mint Julep, with a souvenir glow cube, and she said it was delicious. Assuming it was a one and done, we were pleasantly surprised when our server came around with a pitcher offering her a refill on her Mint Julep, so keep that in mind if you order one at $5.75 ($9.25 if you want the glow cube). Today I want to share one of my favorite dining locations in any of the Disney parks: Bengal Barbecue. Bengal Barbecue is located in Disneyland, just across from the entrance to Indiana Jones and the Forbidden Temple in Adventureland.  I have had this dining spot on my Disney “bucket list” for quite a while, and I was a little worried it wouldn’t live up to the hype.  Luckily, it still managed to exceed my expectations! In fact, after dining here with my family last summer it was one of the few dining locations I insisted on repeating on my most recent trip with my fellow Kingdom Konsultant Agents. I’m pleased to say that my high praises for Bengal Barbecue were echoed by the agents dining with me this time.
