La Cava del Tequila

TEQUILA! Anyone else have that song go through your head when you go to La Cava del Tequila or just me? Oh La Cava, how I love your Margaritas! If you haven't been and you love a good Margarita, make this a part of your next trip to EPCOT. It's located inside the Mexico Pavilion to the right when you enter the marketplace.  When you first enter La Cava, it definitely has that party vibe going! It has the feel of stepping into a little hole in the wall or a Cave as the name depicts, with over 200 different brands of Tequila, let the party begin! With it's warm décor and original artifacts celebrating the Mexican heritage, they truly make you feel right at home. It is small, with seating for up to 30.  And the way that it is situated, you don't see what is going on out in the Marketplace. It's an easy way to lose track of time, which doesn't bother me one bit!  I usually go in with a few friends and we will grab a table and order some appetizers.  Guacamole and/o...

Disney’s Riviera Resort

The beautiful resort is themed to Walt Disney’s travels through Europe and his love of the French and Italian Riviera. The special touches like a library, bistro, terraces, and manicured grounds at this resort invoke a feeling of being in such a place. The Riviera is considered a Disney Vacation Club property, and as such it offers only villa accommodations, including a Tower Studio that sleeps two, a Deluxe Studio that sleeps five, a One-Bedroom Villa that sleeps five, a Two-Bedroom Villa that sleeps nine, and a Three-Bedroom Villa that sleeps 12. One of my favorite things about the Villas are how the smaller rooms – particularly the Deluxe Studio – can comfortably accommodate a family of five. In addition to a queen bed, there is also a queen pull-down murphy-style bed as well as a twin pull-down bed. There is plenty of sitting room for the daytime once these beds are folded in, including a table and chairs as well as a sofa and coffee table, and every room features a patio (fir...

Paddlefish Restaurant at Disney Springs

After arriving in Walt Disney World around dinnertime with no reservations on our latest trip, we headed over to Disney Springs to see what was available and Paddlefish caught our eye with the beautiful boat shining on the water.  There was space for us at the bar where they serve the full menu, so we settled right in for what was about to be a delicious dinner. We started with cocktails and were very impressed by not only the cocktail selection, but also the bartender's knowledge and expertise on the menu to guide us through our selections tonight.  At the recommendation of the staff, we had to give the Lobster Corn Dogs a try for our appetizer.  These were so fun and very delicious (and I don't normally like lobster!) They are most like a corn dog in that they are on a stick, but don't let that stop you from giving these a try.  Next up it was time for our entrees, we both opted for options "from the port" since we were in a seafood inspired restaurant, we could...

Should I Stay on the Disney Skyliner?

Disney’s Skyliner, a gondola system connecting several resorts and two theme parks, opened a little over a year ago in September 2019. Before its opening, resorts on the Disney World Monorail, which connects three deluxe resorts and their related villas with two theme parks, were considered the most coveted accommodations … but has that changed now that the Skyliner is here? I recently stayed at Disney’s Riviera Resort, which features a Skyliner station with direct access to the back entrance of Epcot as well as the BoardWalk area and the Yacht & Beach Club. In the other direction, passing through the hub next door at Caribbean Beach Resort allows for access to the front entrance of Hollywood Studios in minutes. Other resorts with Skyliner stations include Art of Animation and Pop Century, which in my opinion raises the value of these Value Resorts. The ability to get to so many resort areas for shopping and dining is a bonus. The continuous cycle of Skyliner gondolas means the lin...

A Taste of the United Kingdom Without Crossing the Pond

Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room is the table service restaurant located in the United Kingdom Pavilion of the World Showcase at Epcot. From the outside, it looks like a small pub since there is a bar located in the front of the building. To the side are gardens with views of the water but hidden behind both is a fantastic restaurant greatly overlooked. There is a small indoor dining area but the majority of the seating is outside overlooking the lagoon and World Showcase. There is an upper and lower eating area, both covered. Not known to many is that the Rose & Crown was one of the few table service restaurants at World Showcase where you could see the evening fireworks show while dining. Make your dining reservation for 7:30 pm or later and you can enjoy it from the comfort of your table. But keep in mind that you must request an outdoor table when you check in at the podium. (Fireworks are currently suspended at this time.)  The menu offers samplings from all o...

Dive in to The Wave... of American Flavors!

*Please note The Wave permanently closed. In 2021,  Steakhouse 71  opened in the same location. Located off of the lobby of Disney’s Contemporary Resort is one of Disney’s often overlooked  restaurants, The Wave... of American Flavors.   Opening on June 7, 2008, The Wave brought a fresh menu of organic and locally grown produce.   Healthier dining options and environmental friendliness were the main focus.     Images of tofu, leaves and granola are usually what people think of when hearing words like healthy and organic.   However, I can assure you, The Wave’s menu is so very much more than that! Right beyond the check-in area on the ground floor and to the left, The Wave’s entrance is hard to miss.   Glowing blue lights shine their way through the almost tunnel-like hall leading to the restaurant’s bar and waiting areas.   Some guests feel it’s more for the adult crowd, and this is one of the most common misconceptions I have heard ...
