Whipping it Up in Adventureland!

Everyone has a favorite snack when they go on a Disney vacation and mine is the Dole Whip.  Well, that’s probably me and a million other people, too!  In Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland at Walt Disney World, you’ll find a small store front called Aloha Isle.  Chances are, you may have passed by here and wondered why so many people were standing in line knowing there is no ride there.  This is so much better than a ride!  It’s one of several locations that you can get this soft serve frozen pineapple dessert along with Captain Cook’s at the Polynesian Resort, the Tiki Juice Bar in Adventureland in Disneyland and the Dole Plantation in Hawaii. If you find yourself in Adventureland, I’d highly recommend treating yourself to one,  whether it’s in a cup by itself or as a float in pineapple juice.  Either way, it is absolutely delicious!  They also have vanilla if you don’t care for pineapple.  After you try this wonderful confection, you’ll be asking yourself "How did I miss this pl

There is a bit of minor refurb news this week. The Liberty Square Riverboat is scheduled to be closed for a refurbishment from 2/1/2012 to 2/7/2012. Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show at Disney's Hollywood Studios is closing for a brief refurbishment from 11/11/2012 to 11/14/2012. And finally, the Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort are next to get the new RFID touch door locks on guest rooms. Work will start in mid-November and should be complete by the end of the month. The official Disney Parks Blog today revealed a few details about additions to this year's Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced a $2 million cash contribution to the relief and rebuilding efforts for those impacted by Hurricane Sandy. He shared, “It’s hard to fathom the utter devastation from this storm. Thousands of people in the hurricane’s path lost everything and face the daunting challenge of putting their lives and communities back together. We hope this helps provide immediate aid needed to get through this disaster and begin the road to recovery.” One million dollars will be donated to the American Red Cross for immediate assistance, and another $1 million will be designated for organizations working on rebuilding efforts. Also, employee donations to nonprofits involved in disaster relief will be matched, dollar for dollar, by Disney Employee Matching Gifts: A Program of The Walt Disney Company Foundation.
