Genie+ Services at the Disneyland Resort

If you have been to Disneyland in the past couple years, you may have seen Disneyland's most recent "FastPass" system. For those that have been traveling to Disneyland, it is similar to the Max Pass that was introduced before the pandemic.

What is Disney Genie service?

Disney's Genie service is a free planning tool that guides you through the Disneyland park while providing tips to help plan your day. Guests can find the Genie service on the Disneyland app. The Genie service was released on December of 2021 shortly after Walt Disney World released their version. The free Genie service acts like your very own virtual assistant and lists forecasted wait times, where you can mobile order, manage check-in and dining reservations.

As one enters the park at Disneyland, click on the "My Genie Day" part of the app. When it opens, you can click on Tip Board. The Tip Board has the option on checking out the "Attractions & Shows" where is lists standby wait times or "Dining" where it lists all the places you can mobile order. Most recently, Disneyland has added a "Show Only Disney Genie+ Lightning Lanes" toggle where you can see the availability of all the rides offered under the paid service.

What is Disney Genie+ service?

Disneyland's Genie+ service is the paid version of allowing guests to enter a special line called the "Lightning Lane". This allows you to skip the standby line and go through the Lightning Lane for quicker access to the attracation. It does include PhotoPass Downloads at the Disneyland Resort. When you add Genie+ to your day, you can select the next available arrival window for select Lightening Lane entrances. If you've been to Disneyland, Genie+ is Disneyland's updated Max Pass. You can purchase for $30 per day, per ticket when purchased in advance. It allows you to select the next available arrival window for Disney Genie+ Lightening Lane entrances (subject to availability). Limit one Lightning Lane selection per experience per day. You can only hold one Lightning Lane reservation at a time.

PhotoPass

When you purchase Genie+ service, it also includes unlimited Disney PhotoPass digital photo download from your day, as well as fun new audio experiences that you can experience in the parks.

What attractions are available with the Genie+ Service?

Of the 58 attractions in Disneyland, Genie+ is offered for the following attractions:

How much does all of it cost?

The Disney Genie service, the planning tool, is complimentary. If you would like access to the additional features, you can purchase Genie+ for $30 per day per person. Unlike Walt Disney World, you can purchase Genie+ as part of your vacation package or when you purchase your ticket. You also have the option of purchasing it on a day by day basis through the Disneyland app.

How does the Individual Attraction Selection work?

In addition to the attractions included in the Disney Genie+ service, there are two attractions that are not included in the Disney Genie+ service, where you need to purchase access to the Lightning Lane separately. The cost depends on the day but typically ranges from $7-$25 per person, and would need to be purchased for everyone in your party. You do not have to purchase the Individual Lightning Lane to ride the attraction, you only need to purchase it if you would like to use the Lightning Lane to bypass the standby lane. This option is subject to limited availability.

The following attractions are included in the Individual Lightning Lane Selections:

Disneyland Park
  • Rise of the Resistance
Disney California Adventure Park
  • Radiator Springs Racers
Can I purchase both the Disney Genie+ Service and Individual Attraction Selections options? Yes. You can purchase both the Disney Genie+ Service and Individual Attractions Selections.

Can I purchase just the Individual Attraction Selections option? Yes. You do not have to purchase the Disney Genie+ Service to purchase the Individual Attraction Selections option.

Can I still ride attractions if I don't want to pay for the Disney Genie+ Service or for Individual Attraction Selections? Yes! There will still be standby attraction queues and virtual queues for select attractions available complimentary to all guests.

When can I make my Lightning Lane selections? Lightning Lane selections can be made on the day of your park visit. At the Disneyland Resort, guests can purchase on the day of their visit and can pick their first Lightening Lane selection once they enter a theme park.

Can I make Lightning Lane selections at both Disneyland parks or just one per day? Guests can make selections across the theme parks per day if you have a park hopper. So if you start the day in Disneyland and then park hop over to Disney's California Adventure, you can continue making Lightning Lane selections throughout the day. It is important to note that Individual Lightning Lane Selections are only available for up to two different attractions per day, per guest.

Can I modify my Lightning Lane Return times? Yes, you can modify your times. You will need to go to "My Day" and click on the three dots of the attraction you booked. Go to Modify Plan and it'll prompt you to "change to this time".

Photo Tour and Deck Plan: Disney Fantasy

The Disney Fantasy took its maiden voyage in 2012 and until 2022, was the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. It's the sister ship to the Disney Dream so you'll see many similarities between the two ships. The Disney Fantasy is an absolutely gorgeous ship, boasting an Art Nouveau style. The ship has 14 decks, 1,250 staterooms, is 1,115 feet in length and weighs 130,000 gross tons. We'll tour the ship starting from Deck 1 up to Deck 14, going from Aft to Forward. Let's start our photo tour! Deck 1 Deck 1 is where you'll find the Health Center. It's also where you can exit the ship to board a tender at Ports of Call that require ships to anchor offshore.  Deck 2 Deck 2 is where you'll find one of the three main dining rooms, Enchanted Garden.  The restaurant transforms throughout dinner, changing from day to night I love these booths! You can also find staterooms, a Midship Detective Agency kiosk and the Vista Gallery showcasing Disney artwork.  Deck

Universal's Volcano Bay Private Cabana Review

On a recent training in Universal Orlando Resort, agents Maci, Ashley, Aubrey and Yaritza and I rented a private cabana for the day at Universal's Volcano Bay. There are multiple locations around the park along with the option to have an upper or lower level, all of which reflect in various pricing. Agent Ashley received an email the day before informing her of where to check-in the next morning. While we were personally escorted to the cabana shortly after check in, the line at the check in location is the same as those getting towels, meaning it was not short. As expressed by an additional guest checking into a different cabana, we would have greatly appreciated a separate line, since this caused our group about a half hour wait. We're all adults and made great use of our time getting some fun pictures before the park was filled with guests, but this is important to be aware of if you are traveling with children.  We had an upper level Cabana which came with a splendid view!

The Villas at the Disneyland Hotel Review

I love staying at the Disneyland Hotel so when I got the opportunity to stay at the new Villas at the Disneyland Hotel during opening weekend, I couldn’t pass it up. Because it was opening weekend, we were greeted in the entrance way of the lobby with balloons and many photo opportunities. When we arrived, there was a mural of the Haunted Mansion. I love how the seats in the main lobby were designed like the teacups in the parks. You can check in using the Disneyland app, drop your bags with bell services and head into the parks or use the amenities why you wait until your room is ready. When your room is ready, the resort will send you a text and you can use the Disneyland app on your mobile device to unlock the room. We dropped off our bags and went straight to the parks. We received a text around 1PM that our room was ready. In the new Discovery Tower (the Villas), you'll find that the lobby is very spacious with many places to sit while you read or wait for your family. Th
