Universal's Volcano Bay Basics

If you have driven on I-4 between downtown Orlando and the various theme parks in Central Orlando you have probably been intrigued by the giant volcano that is visible near the Universal theme parks.   This curiosity is the centerpiece of Universal Orlando Resort's third park:  Universal's  Volcano Bay. Volcano Bay joined Universal Orlando Resort in May 2017.   It is a 27 acre water theme park, and probably my favorite part of our most recent vacation.   There is something for everyone to enjoy here, whether your goal is to find adventure or total relaxation.   Starting Your Volcano Bay Experience While you can purchase single-day tickets to Volcano Bay, the best bang for your buck is to bundle it with the other theme parks in a 3-Park Ticket.   Guests staying at one of the on-site resorts have an advantage for Volcano Bay:   Early Park Admission!   You can enter the park 1 hour earlier than offsite guests, which means you have more choice for seating and you can hop on the

What to Expect on Your 2021 Disney World Vacation

If you’re traveling to Disney World in 2021, there are several changes to be aware of following the Covid-19 shutdown and reopening last year, especially if you’ve visited in the past. Here is a roundup of some of the biggest changes as well as more insight to navigating your next Disney World vacation. Safety Masks are required for all guests ages 2 and up upon entering and throughout all attractions, at all theaters, on transportation and all indoor locations including restaurants, except while actively eating or drinking while stationary. Disney has some specific guidelines for those masks here . As of May 15th, masks are now optional in outdoor common areas and pool decks. Masks can also be removed for socially distanced photos in the parks and resorts, which is a welcome change for those who purchase Memory Maker to capture all of their vacation photos. Disney has also placed sanitizing stations throughout the parks and resorts to encourage usage before and after attractions, din

Universal Orlando Resort & COVID-19 Safety Guidelines

Since the theme parks in Orlando have reopened, the Universal Orlando Resort has implemented some new safety guidelines in response to the coronavirus pandemic. I'm sure you're wondering what it's like to take a Universal vacation right now and you might not be sure if you'd like to visit with the safety guidelines in place. We visited in September to see for ourselves and to report back to you on our experience.  In accordance with CDC guidelines, Universal has enhanced their sanitization procedures and implemented additional measures to encourage social distancing. Universal is asking that all guests and Team Members comply with the following guidelines: Face covering required - Everyone is required to wear a face covering during their visit except for children under the age of 3, when actively eating or drinking, and when at a designated U-Rest area. Wash hands often -  Wash your hands with soap and water often for at least 20 seconds. (This seems like a no-brainer

When should I visit Walt Disney World?

Planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be a large and daunting task. There are so many decisions to make- where to stay, where to eat, how much time to devote to each park, and  more. Before you can dive in to any of these details, the first step is deciding when to visit. We have many first time guests ask us when is the best time to experience Walt Disney World. While we all have personal favorites, there is no "one size fits all" answer to this question. The truth is, any time is a great time to take a Disney trip- but there are a lot of factors to take into consideration when trying to plan the perfect vacation. CROWDS One thing to consider when choosing your travel dates is the crowd level. If you would prefer to visit during a time with low crowds (meaning minimal waits at attractions), then your best bet is to stay away from holidays and school breaks. Broadly speaking, Disney World has seen lower crowds during certain weeks in September and May. The parks wil

Epcot Must-Do Experiences for a First Time Visitor!

One of Walt's biggest dreams for his Florida Project was the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, also known as Epcot.  Here dreams of the future have taken place and come true since it's opening day October 1, 1982.  Now, over 40 years later, Epcot is still delighting guests with its unique experiences and attractions.  Everyone who visits will find something they love, whether it be a high-speed attraction in World Celebration or a stroll through the countries in World Showcase.  Today I want to shed some light on some must-dos for guests visiting Epcot for the first time! Travel in Time When you hear the name Epcot, chances are the image of a giant, silver geodesic sphere come to mind.  While many people refer to it as the giant golf ball, Spaceship Earth is the park's icon, and does it ever make itself present!  Standing tall and proud at the front of the park, it's unmissable.  Some people are surprised to find out that there is actually a ride inside o
